Apple Scraps iPhone Plans: ‘Canceled Before Launch!’

Ana sayfa / News

Apple had been working on a rather interesting subscription plan for quite some time: under this model, users would pay a fixed monthly fee to Apple, allowing them to get the latest iPhone every time it was released, simply by returning their old device and paying an additional charge. This model, which could be called a “lifetime iPhone ownership” plan, has been shelved by Apple. So, why? Here are the details!

The company’s innovative plan was initially managed by the Apple Pay team. However, due to software bugs and operational issues, the project was delayed and ultimately canceled. Apple had tested the subscription system with its own employees, but by the end of the testing phase, the team was redirected to other projects.

According to Apple analyst James Gurman, if the plan had been successful, users would have been able to get the latest iPhone for a monthly fee via the account they use to pay for App Store and other services. Apple would also manage the credit system internally. However, due to various problems and other higher-priority projects, the subscription plan was canceled before it could be launched.

Apple Maps has achieved the long-awaited feature!

The long-awaited innovation has come for Apple Maps, which recently introduced the web version to users. Here are the details.

Instead of the iPhone Subscription Service, the company is likely to focus on the iPhone Upgrade Program (not available in Turkey). This program allows users to purchase their devices with an installment plan over two years and offers the option to swap their old iPhone for a new model after 12 months.

The company aimed to generate more consistent revenue and boost device sales with the iPhone subscription plan. With its cancellation, Apple is expected to promote the iPhone Upgrade Program more frequently and direct users toward this system.

What do you think about this system? If such a plan existed, would you be willing to make continuous monthly payments for a new iPhone every year? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
